Third worlders are ignorant? Where is that definition? Of starving for that matter.

<They're not "intelligent truth seekers" like secularized westerners. >

No, see Maslov's heirarchy... jeez do you know anyting about spirituality?

Are you saying one has to attain a sufficient standard of material wealth to know anything about spirituality?

And if all third worlders were wandering around starving, too impoverished to think of spiritual matters, why the spread of Christianity there?

<They're ignorant .. and starving which is bad except when they're Buddhist or something ......>

We're talking about movement to Christianity, no judgement about where they came from.

So third worlders are ignorant starving unable to be interested in spirituality only when they convert to Christianity?

<Oh, which writings were written down and translated earlier with less error propagation than the Bible? >

Your'e kidding right? The other two mentioned are earlier...

I suppose you're referring to Buddhism and Taoism. They may be older than Christianity as religious movements but we're talking about their scriptures.

The oldest Buddhist scriptures don't go back to Buddha - perhaps you don't know that. They were only written down centuries after - and I mean 6 centuries after - Buddha (refer to the Fourth Buddhist Council - yes, early Buddhism had councils like early Christianity). The Pali Canon may contain sayings of Buddha and probably has his basic teachings correct but the scriptures themselves aren't older than Christianity's.

I see some version of the Tao Te Ching may be a few centuries older than the Christian scriptures though there are several versions of it and each of them go back to about the time of the writing of the Christian scriptures.

Interesting that the scriptures of Buddhism, Christianity, and Taoism are roughly about the same age.

One should add that Chinese civilization was VERY advanced, not some ignorant mayhem that many in the West assume.

But they become ignorant and unspiritual when they convert to Christianity, you would say?

In fact the middle ages in Europe was probably MUCH more prone to error propogation IMHO than anything China or India saw.

Nonsense. Chinese and Indian dynasties had official state religions too and codified and manipulated their writings.

<What religious tradition teaches that?>

What, "sackcloth and ashes, sin and guilt"? I hope your joking.

No, both Buddhism and Christianity teach that (check out the "first noble truth"). I was referring to joy and happiness with no sin or guilt. Which religious tradition teaches that?
