23 of 26 retail store reports are bearish. Not only is the consumer not spending but most of them are on life support financially.

Fred's Inc August Comps Down 1.4%
BJ's Wholesale Club Reports August Sales Results
August 2009 decreased by 6.0%
Dillard's August Sales Fell 14% To $431.1M >DDS

With 70% of the GDP being the consumer I don't see this market doing much up. This is mainly shorts piling on top of each other.
