I'm "hoping" that we can squeeze through this and survive as a country and an economy.

Where do you think the bailout and stimulus monies came from? Who do you think paid for the bailout and stimulus? If people are getting hit financially, do you think having additional reductions in spendable income will help them pay their bills? Do you think that they will be spending more money if they have less?

I don't even know what the "straight democratic line" IS..
One example is a doom & gloom prediction if the stimulus and bailouts hadn't happened.

Can you fill me in on that? Can you also fill me in on what the "straight republican line" IS??
There doesn't seem to be one as far as i can tell. There are some who believe that TARP was needed, others who don't. There are groups of republicans who are anti-abortion and groups that are pro-choice, there are pro-stemcell research repubs and anti-stemcell repubs. I'm sure that democrats are similarly divided philosophically, they just seem cohesive.
