Thursday October 30 3:01 AM EST LG Semicon mass produces Rambus DRAMs SEOUL, Oct 30 (Reuters) - South Korean chipmaker LG Semicon Co said on Thursday that it had developed and started to mass produce the world's fastest 18-megabit Rambus dynamic random access memory chips (DRAMs). Rambus DRAMs are chips adopting Rambus Inc's (RMBS) high-bandwidth memory-interface technology and are used mostly at computer graphics cards. LG spokesman Han Dong-mun said the chip had data transmission speed of 700 megabytes per second, against 500 megabytes for the existing one. The company has recently started producing one million units per month and expects brisk sales of the chips to contribute to boosting its earnings, Han said.
