Not only that: The price is a significant inhibitor of investment on a given good. Or in other words: everything stops once there is no money to be made.

If price indication is that there's little money to be made investment grinds to a halt. Slowly sources become dilapidated. Bright minds desert the sector, the infrastructure that serves that sector gets old and inefficient.

The goods prices start climbing up. Enter speculators. Goods price skyrocket, capital restart to be invested in said sector.
