McCain had a GREAT relationship with the press, over a period of decades. Scarborough seems like a decent guy, and would probably do well in a general election. But, being a decent guy is a MAJOR dis-qualifier with the nutsoid, birther, tea-bagging (R) base that dominates the (R) primaries. He'll be running against Palin and maybe even a right-wing third party. Romney couldn't get past them, despite pandering to them.

It's a REAL problem the (R) team has.
