A background check is required of anyone with day-to-day access to the White House. Obama may have overruled any objections the FBI raised as a result of the check.

I went through the FBI background check thing in the 1980s. As was reported in an article on pFp, they want to know every place you've ever lived, as well as every job you've ever had. They contact people you list on the form, and get names of others from them. They go several layers back - very through.

I've thought about doing a FOIA request for my check just to see what they turned up.
