i did that last year before the nahalem came out.

either you buy an all in one machine, or you get the pro.

i just cannot own an all in one machine. a real hassle if a component goes bad, and i'm a slave to steve to fix it.

but on the desk pro, the cost above even a super high end pc is so completely out of whack for getting to where i want to go. it just doesn't make much sense.

years ago it might have, but apple has lost a number advantages in both performance and even high end rendering given the absolute gap in pricing. you can't even get past a 3 year warrenty with apple, but most offer a four year at the same price with same day service.
