The US economy is in absolute shambles. There is no economic recovery coming, of any sustainable nature. The housing wreck steamroller is not over. There is no hiring and there is no wage growth. The problem is that there is no industry to hire into. It just doesn't exist.

US residential real estate will be at best flatlined for year, and years, and years to come. There is no shortage of US real estate.

In a perverse way, the best thing that could happen now is for reflation to get as quickly out of control as possible--thus causing a political crisis and a new financial crisis that the FED cannot mend. Then we finally get to Vi's larger macro thesis about financial crises more generally--which is that the purpose is to finally break the cancerous relationship between the political class and the financial class. To force the two spheres back apart.

The last 27 years are a picture perfect record of government induced housing inflation. Among other horrors.

What's the point of having a crisis if it doesn't end the careers of those who built it? :-)
