I assume that is a government run socialized system.

My wife -- an ICU nurse tells me they are at the other extreme here. Extra tests are run, procedures are done because the public is sue happy and the extra procedures, tests are necessary as a CYA for the doctors.

Extradordinary measures at end of life are routine, and only not done if written direction not to do same is obtained before hand.
