As one of the preparatory materials for teachers provided by the Department of Education, students had been asked to, "Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. “
I didn't find this nearly so offensive as, "How will president Obama inspire us?"
The false premise, of course, is that he WOULD inspire these children. To some extent, any president should be an inspiration to school children.
OTOH, we're talking about a failed presidency that in the course of only a few months has spiraled out of control, brought us to absolute fiscal chaos, has the nation mired down in socialism and rather than bringing badly needed health care reform, his over-reaching has destroyed the possibility of doing something great.
In fact, nothing Obama has done after getting elected should be seen as inspiration AT ALL.
A better, and more acceptable question, would have been, "What could Obama do differently to become an inspiration to you?" |
