The way I figure it, the only way out they see for the huge looming Medicare/Mediaid monster on the horizon, with the aging Boomer generation now entering Medicare coverage is to suck more money out of young healthy people by offering them Medicare coverage.

I fully expect the "public option" to become compulsory in my lifetime, driving out any private insurance options until the private market has to arise to fill the gaping holes the way Medi-gap insurance does now.
