I have a problem with the left AND the right.
It's probably a product of my personality, but the declaration by Pelosi that they absolutely will not sign anything without a public option infuriates me. It makes me almost as mad as I am at the Republicans who flat out won't sign anything at all.
WHen you start out with these absolutes, there is just no where to go.
Start somewhere, damn it. Both sides. They are all the problem.
And there is a special place in hell for Glenn Beck and all spittle covered ranters who have aggravated the situation beyond rational recourse. It isn't that I object at all to facts; we need people who dig and report. What we don't need is the emotional, hate-driven, "we are the real patriots protecting our country from you evil socialists" crap that seems to spew 24/7 these days.
Yesterday David Gergen, Cindy Crowley, and a man whose name slips my mind, were discussing the Van Jones resignation, and they were so calm and rational! I wanted to cry in gratitude. No one interrupted or raised his voice. They added various observations, some critical of the admin, some pointing out that it was unfortunate that the achievements of Jones in that particular field, and the reasons he was qualified for that job had gotten so lost in the screaming from the right, but that more attention should have been paid to his past.
It was SANE. Not filled with shadow government takeovers and socialist agenda.
