To the blindly partisan, maybe. Normal people? Not so much.

And they weren't alarmed by the fascist behavior of the Bush administration? Strangely selective and overly sensitive in those select cases, then...

Uh, no. It is if enough of the right people see it that way, they'll be successful. It only takes a small minority. Usually with a political axe to grind. I see that here all the time.
