How about a subway in the Boreal. I advocate one from Red Lake to McVicar and then back to Setting Net Lake, thence to Favourable and on to Big Trout Lake.
Sure would beat the flies and the muskego and ice. And be cheaper than flying in the long run. You can travel 20 miles on the TTC for about 2.75. The whole Boreal short turn could be done for a 100 bucks.
Lemme see, at $1000 a foot for 20 X 16 foot drift, plus track and power, water, air, that is $1500.00/foot. Every 10 miles put in a 500 foot Wind Gen set for the power. That is dirt cheap. Only $8.3 million per mile. Red Lake to Trout Lake 20 miles, then McVicar is another 75, then to Favourable/Setting Net Lake, 200 miles, to Big Trout Lake another 200 miles. 4 billion. Drop 'n the bucket. Could add spur lines to Cat Lake, North Spirit. So many places to visit. Such nice fishing.
Have a nice lodge on each lake, 200 rooms, $200 per night. It would pay for itself in Tourism in 50 years with 100% occupancy. Perhaps the drinks, train tickets and sale of fishing licenses would speed up payback.
New TTC stops.
