A lot of people who didn't really want to retire have lost their jobs. Many are eligible for SS and are taking it. I personally know 3 who did it this summer for exactly this reason. I suspect the SSTF and Congress haven't counted on this trend. The economy is swirling down the toilet and Congress is arguing over how to waste an additional trillion dollars they plan to borrow in our names.
