"In 1980 the top tax rate was 70%, in 1983 it went down to 50%, in 1987 it went down again to 38.5%, and yet again in 1988 to just 28%." Like I said, stupidity is to the bone. You do realize there is more to taxes than the top tax rate for income tax? That where brackets start and end, and the percentage at the various brackets means something? Not to mention things like SSI... "This was the main reason for the boom in the late 80's and 90's." Umm, no. Look at the national debt during those years. It tracks quite nicely with the economic expansion until the 1990s.
