The more news come out that people suddenly bet on rising prices... and have bought, instead of continuing to buy... the less bullish it becomes, actually. Barrick (and others?) closing positions right into a spike. Huh? In that you could be right. For me it begins to feel like the natgas trade, only the other way round. Some profit taking in the GDX after the 9 point runup.
