Mish, the illegal alien thing is such a red herring because illegal aliens can walk into a hospital and get care even in the current system.

This happens in any civilized, industrial country.

Maybe the solution is to have better border control or penalize employers for hiring illegal immigrants so they don't come in.

But that won't happen...since Republicans and Democrats are both in the pockets of big business, there is no real incentive to stop illegal immigration.

Anyway this whole health care debate is absurd. We spend 16% of GDP on health-care. If we move it to 12% that definitionally means we're spending less "income" on it irrespective if our taxes go up or the government deficits go up. It's simply a question of who pays - the individual or government - and who profits. Currently individuals are incurring the debt due to health-care since it takes away from potential savings, I'm not sure why that's considered better.

Obama is right, in the end it's a moral issue. Either you're for universal INSURANCE or you're against it. I answer to a higher authority on this one and I'm for it.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure how anybody can call themselves a good Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist and not feel the same.
