Responding over here to get the topic off of JP's thread.

I do understand that more HRs make the game more exciting, but it's kind of like giving compliments when they aren't deserved. After a while they lose their meaning.

We start fallball on the 20th. I'm the Fallball Commish, so I am steeped in baseball right now. Considering that all the kids of the executive board members have composite bats, I doubt that they are going to be banned anytime soon.

But I tell ya, nothing compares to the *crack* of a well hit ball off of a wooden bat.

I may see if the boy wants to go old school. He likes to do things a little differently at times.

Ot...
Exactly...we should go back to old school wood or new age composites that acts like wood and cannot be tampered with or improves performance (barrel reflex or bounce) w/usage, etc.

Many private HS near me have gone back to wood only a few years ago. On the flip side, if your league allows composites like most still do today, your kid is at a major disadvantage if he's not using one. The LLWS is another pure example of that.

btw...the new top of the line -3 HS and College bats are now $400..not $250! The LL versions are $250!
