<The only time you seem to care about the meaning of the word science is when I criticize someone.>

Oh please... youre the only one here making outlandish statements about about it.

<You know, liberals pretty much all say that.>

Yea, every last one! LOL

<<Then you shouldn't be arguing with me about this imo. >

The argument was your insistance that a non-scientific magazine was the same as a scientific journal.

<Pretty much. I don't distinguish between "real scientific journals" and magazines like the one in question and most people don't. >

Agreed (most people dont), but THAT isn't scientists fault, they present in Scientific Journals and have no control over the "spin" that popular media puts on it. That's exactly a big problem.

At least with "Scientific Journals" the 'real story' is there to be looked up.. and popular myths (or spin) can be debunked if not supported... or if misused. That's what "Scientific studies" are all about... and THATS why EVERYONE who learns about doing studies learns to go to original sources.

< I consider the popular conceptions of science in our society important. >

Me too. VERY! a
And badmouthing scientists because you don't like what they have to say rather than working within accepted rules of discussion and science is counterproductive. I don't understand why people worried about these things aren't running out to study up on whatever it is they're interested in. Too many blowhards in the media IMHO. Al Gore included to be honest... he has few credentials and many a scientist think the emotional backlash isnt worth it. Most biologists are MORE concerned about what they consider the root of any potential "human caused global warming" anyway... pollution, biodiversity, etc.

<I am sure there's a difference thats important to you. >

Of course, because it's indicative of the issue we just described and discussed.
