MIDDLEBORO, Ky., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Heartland, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: HTLJ - News), a diversified company with businesses in steel warehousing and fabrication and petroleum retail and wholesale operations, today announced that Mound Technologies, its steel fabrication subsidiary, has completed a number of projects, continues to win new contracts and grow a healthy backlog and is becoming a stronger key player for fabricated and value-added steel products and services in the region it serves.

Some of the important achievements for Mound over the past few quarters include:

Providing steel fabrication and value-added services in the completion of the structure on the 4(th) Hamilton City, Ohio, school project on which Mound has worked over the past two years; projects for a new gymnasium and middle school are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The steel fabrication for a new school in Elida, Ohio, a contract worth in excess of $1.1 million

The steel fabrication for the third school in the Little Miami, Ohio, school district constructed in the last two years.

The completion of a new three story office for the Cincinnati Metropolitan Sewer district, a contract worth just under $1 million.

The backlog for Mound Technologies, Inc. currently exceeds $6.5 million.

"Despite the difficult economic environment, we continue to bid on and win solid contracts in our region," said Tom Miller, chief executive officer of Mound Technologies. "As improvements to current infrastructure and the building of new facilities continue, we are well positioned to provide first-class product, support and value-added service to our customers."

"Having a company that has built and solidified a strong reputation is invaluable in economic times like these," noted Terry Lee, chief executive officer of Heartland, Inc. "Tom Miller and his team have established Mound Technologies as the 'go to' company for first-class service, support and value in their market. These characteristics should prove even more telling when the economic climate improves."
