Another comment on Fleckenstein and Barron's.

Fleckenstein: "I'm short one other little company, Cymer. Symbol CYMI. They make UV bulbs that go into semiconductor lithography equipment."

A few people have pointed out that within the industry the DUV eximer lasers manufactured by Cymer are referred to as a "bulbs"...so that Fleckenstein's use of the term really isn't a vicious putdown.

Wrong!

Consider the audience: Fleckenstein's comments aren't intended for people knowledgeable in the industry. His comments are directed at the weekend investment warriors who take Barron's as gospel and who have no idea what an excimer laser is nor the technical sophistication required to manufacture these devices.

For this audience, to refer to Cymer's lasers as "UV bulbs" would conjure up the image of something simple like the UV bulbs these good folk might encounter down at the local tanning salon.

So Fleckenstein's terminology is both vicious and cleverly chosen so as to avoid legal difficulties.

My opinions only,
Gerry
