Dark thought for the day: There is an acrid smell in the air, as if we had decided that the best outcome is to have the Israelis do our dirty work for us. And then we'll come down on them really hard to make them stop building apartments in Jerusalem.

Of course we have. Then we'll come down on them as hard as Obama dares to prove how clean his own hands are. But the Arabs will be relieved, and even most of the Persians will support it by now.

Despite all the dire predictions, I wonder if Iran will even respond. Hizbullah can't be looking forward to starting another war against an Israel that has been preparing for a rematch. Israel didn't fight the last war well, yet Hizbullah still lost, though of course they claimed victory. Plus dragging Lebanon into war again will only lower Hizbullah's already low popularity inside Lebanon.
