To see how absurd this is, let's take the same concept to auto insurance. Why not let people buy insurance after they get in an accident? One reason, of course, is it leads to fiscal and personal recklessness.


This is some of the stupidity that Limbaugh keeps repeating as well.

Suppose you work and pay insurance for 20 years then lose your job. While on Cobra you get diagnosed with a serious health issue such as cancer, you get treatment and recover. Meanwhile you cant work and eventually lose your insurance because you spent your savings.

So now you are healthy and ready to work, but you have a pre existing condition. Maybe you cant get a job with insurance but you get a job and go to buy your own insurance. But because you had cancer and could have it again your premiums are now more than your take home pay.

I dont know what the answer is but the majority of people who do all the working and paying taxes are all two steps away from this type of scenario.
