In reading some posts on the other boards, you get the impression that people think Medicare is free to seniors. It's not. Approx $125 is taken out of the SS check every month and then Blue Cross or AARP, (who ever you have as the Part B, which is required) comes along and takes out another $170-$200 a month, so you end up paying over $300 a month as a single - more if you're married. Plus, most seniors paid into the system for over 50 years for Medicare and SS.
