<Again, that all or perhaps most scientists aren't part of an atheist groupthink movement doesn't mean that that element doesn't exist. >
Sure... but also existing are wacko's that put out video's and books about the "science" behind god making the world in seven days and peddling it to schools and groups. They support each other as well, not unlike what you describe. So?
Gee, I wonder who came first, Dawkins (aetheists) or wacko creationists?
<I exchanged a series of letters with a former head of scientific advisor to the President after he moved to Rice U and authored an editorial attacking ID. I never got a good answer, nor have I from anyone, as to why people like him, and organizations like AAAS and the National Science Foundation spend a good bit of effort attacking ID but NEVER say a contrary word about the work of folks like Dawkins, Dennett, Coyne, Shermer, Eugenie Scott, etc.<
There's no doubt in MY mind it's because of the wacko's I've described above. They attack ID because of the "element" that flock to it... ie. "anything but evolution" crowd... not unlike you to be honest, gravitating towards it just because it also is 'not Darwin' (supposedly), without even realizing IT IS EVOLUTION. The wacko's aren't doing the ID group any favors.
