Here are the FACTS about obama's ties to ACORN... remember, facts are stubborn things, they just don't go away... try doing a basic search, but for starters, here you go...
Obama Misleads Regarding Ties to ACORN
During the recent debate, Senator McCain raised the issue of Obama's ties to ACORN, a radical group involved in voter registration efforts in poor, urban areas. During the debate, Obama only admitted to minimal involvement with ACORN ("the The only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs"), yet according to several credible sources, Obama has had extensive ties to ACORN. He actually worked as both a community vote organizer for ACORN in the early 1990s and served as this group's in-house legal counsel (see below, "Book on Election Fraud with New Obama Material"). His ties to the group were so close that in 1996, when he ran for the Illinois State Senate, Obama listed ACORN first among his supporters in a campaign filing (in a list that author John Fund points out was not alphabetical!).
Obama's ties to ACORN have continued over the years, with Obama being instrumental in efforts to steer funding (including Federal funds) to housing projects that ACORN participates in. As recently as this year, Obama's campaign website posted comments in which he praised ACORN for its voter registration efforts. According to Fund, ACORN currently is running "Obama Camps" to train new activists.
While some may criticize Senator McCain for bringing up issues like Obama's ties to ACORN, convicted terrorist Bill Ayers or Reverend Wright, these are issues that the American people need to hear. In this campaign, Obama has presented himself as a moderate, but when one examines who his friends and political mentors have been, a different picture emerges. Obama is no moderate--he's the most radical Presidential candidate of a major party in modern history.
