You are one tough nut to crack and i wonder at your reading skills and whether you actually try to understand other peoples points of view.

<<but it would be ruinous and wasteful for a society to encourage people to retire that early. >>

I retired because i could afford to retire.

Shortly after i retired and receiving company pension...that is company pension, so you understand... not a socialist pinko commie pension from the government north of your border which i had paid into for 32 years ..my company called me to go back to work.

I refused, and told them to get a 20 year old in and train him for the job...he needed it i didn't

twice so you get it..

I refused and told them to get a 20 year old in and train him for the job...he needed it i didn't

<<A person who retires at 51 and gets government benefits will spend more of their life as a taker than as an earner.>>

You got to try harder Brumar89 i did not get any government benifits at age 51 No government pension. No government pension.

What i got was health care as described on this thread many times but you don't seem to want to understand....Health care which i am paying for through my taxes, donation and blablabla.. all the rest,, and which i was paying into all the years that i worked.

I will be paying for my health care through the tax system till the day i die. Do you get it???

<<I don't think you should be bragging about retiring early to collect government health care benefits. ...>>

Not bragging about retiring, just stating a fact.

I'll repeat for you. When i was working i was paying my portion for health care through the taxes i paid.

I am still paying for health care through the taxes i pay on pension and all other income that i am receiving, investments and all the rest when taxes are filed at tax year end.

Do you get it???If you chose to interpret that as a taker then i feel sorry for you.

<<It encourages people to say why work, save, take care of myself - let the nanny state do it.>>

In my childhood we were very poor, never owned anything, i did not inherit anything so i worked and saved and invested like all the rest here on SI.

I live in a country where i don't need to worry about losing everything i have worked for if i get sick again, get it

<<Are people who work past 51 saps? >>

You tell me Brumar89, or maybe you could ask ski now ski ..he said congrats. Now think about that...that was a nice gesture,no??<gg>>

<<And I find it hard to see your basis of complaint against health insurance companies in other countries. You have no experience with them. I do and I've never had a problem with those evil greedy leeches as you pro-socialist folks refer to them.>>

I was completly healthy up until five years ago so our system was of little concern to me and i had no drag on the system.

Since then, after having a few health care issues..... the way governments treat their citizens is of interest to me, so put me on ignore if you like. <g>
