The Haast eagle evolved after the moas were killed off and went to roost in Helengrad - Ponokee gave you a photo of one of them, glowering and preparing to pounce on King George II. The modern variant of the Haast eagle doesn't just kill its prey outright, but clings to its back, drinking blood, killing them less frequently. Nature evolves parasites which enable the host to maintain life. As the previous Haast eagle found killing off the host isn't conducive to long term success. Mqurice
