If you don't mind me asking, how much vitamin D supplement do you think is necessary for the fall/winter? I am taking an extra 1,000 iu, but perhaps I need to take more, I'm not sure?!? vitamindcouncil.org recommends 5,000 iu vitamin D supplement in the fall/winter to keep flu and other infections from getting one sick. Is this too high? I read that the body naturally produces 10,000 iu of vitamin D in the summer from normal sun exposure, so the government recommended level of 400 iu for vitamin D seems like its way too conservative. Anyone?
