<Sure there is.>
There sure ISNT... since the existance of God is not falsifiable and all that crap Dawkin's spews isn't science. So scientists just look at him and shake their heads... what are they going to do... publish a paper about Dawkin's whimiscal books?
<Its not a scientifically proven truth that there is no God so when people put forward the idea there is, thats a scientific fallacy. >
What a scientist should consider it his duty to get involved with the screwed up "media" we just discussed just because Dawkins sells books?
Besides, as I've already pointed out you are NOT reading any of the "new agey" spiritual stuff (including all sorts of books) BY SCIENTISTS...
You find what you're looking for... atheist scientists that write books, you apparently ARENT looking for the flip side.
<No, to mainstream folks they (Dawkins, Shermer, Ruse, ...) are the real voice of science, not the real scientists writing in journals that no one but a small clique reads. So its appropriate to say society and the media place them on a pedestal.>
1.) That's silly 90% of the population (or more) never heard of Dawkins. He's on u-Tube, but his appearences on talkshows is dwarfed by almost every other guest. 2.) Who cares? I thought we established the media is a bunch of crap.
<I know which I see in the science section when I go into Barnes & Noble. >
Book stores are for adults. The fact is you are villifying Dawkins, etc. who are atheists and think they have something to say about atheism (which is probably just falsifying the real 'wacko' forms of god put forward by bible thumpers... which is FINE BY ME) and religion and god... BUT when millions of kids are being taught the world is made in seven days by a guy with a white beard... "Oh, no problem"!!
<You know about half the public hold to "wacko creationist" beliefs and have for a century now of being taught otherwise in the public schools. That isn't happening because there are some powerful "wacko creationists" teaching them in schools or the media ... people choose what to believe themselves. >
Oh COMMON! People believe what they grow up learning... and sure, I have no problem with a family teaching that to their kids... sure it's sad, but lot's of things are...
BUT this stuff is taught in churches, religion classes, AND peddled as science ("creationsim science"-sells videos and all sorts of stuff to homeschool groups) to ignorant people all over the country.
