How does the fact that the Republicans betrayed their principles by voting for earmarks make it right for the dems to promise to end them and then go on to vote for more than the Reps.

You are playing their game. You are reducing politics to a pissing contest between the two parties. When you understand that both parties are the enemy, you will finally get it.
