I've just finished reading the front page article about SGI on SJ Mercury. These were thoughts that popped into my heads:

1. Very similar to Informix several months ago. SGI will flounder for the leadership vacuum. Given the states of the two companies, I think Mr. McCracken should deserve better respect than Mr. White.

2. If as the predominant sentiment exhibited on this board that Mr. McCracken IS the problem and should be SHOT, then the SGI board has SHOT a BLANK at Mr. McCracken and seems to be telling the SGI populace that "OK, you've been clammering for Mr. McCracken to be shot, now that we have fired a shot at him, let's just move on and let the map drawn out by Mr. McCracken take us wherever it may!"

3. My feeling is that the board and Mr. McCracken will succumb to the pressure once the new CEO is on board. The challenge now is how to attract a good one, given that the board has backed Mr. McCracken in his chairman role. Apple is still looking under similar circumstances (in the shadow of Mr. Jobs) and is still looking, looking and looking...you know the Energizer ad.

4. For the 'turn-around' investors on this board, I suggest the Informix stock will turn around much sooner than SGI.

Yep, happy hunting!
