I have been to Washington dozens of times. Lots of people travel by cabs. You may assume that most to the protesters would be reticent to travel on DC public transit. When I have visited DC I have stayed with relatives and driven in and sometimes been dropped off. Lots of them may have stayed the night at local hotels. The number of 75,000 peaceful conservative protesters seems reasonable.
