My SIL specializes in gas isotopes. Recently he discovered how formaldehyde forms in the atmosphere and received a paid for invitation to Vienna to present his paper to a group of world scientists. Pretty exciting for a young guy-lol.

He also developed a quick way to tell the difference between methane molecules from Brazil and the arctic. I guess they have a different molecular structure.

Regarding methane hydrates melting with GW I asked him about that several years ago and he said they had NOT found increased amounts of methane in the atmosphere to that point.

But just recently scientists are finding increased amounts of methane in the atmosphere.

Only makes sense. The arctic is loaded with quadrillions of cubic feet of methane hydrates e.g. vegetable matter, frozen swamps and bird and animial feces.

The arctic is thawing like crazy. For the first time in thousands of years the northwest passage has been open to ships in 07,08 and 09. And the flora and fauna are changing dramatically.
