All we can do is just be there. A long time acquaintance of mine is, as I type, in her final days with Hospice...She has had lots of high blood pressure problems, pacemaker, then kidney failure, 7 months of dialysis, and gave it all up several weeks ago. She said she has already been able to stay longer than they thought she would. She is relatively young, about 55 I would guess. There is little any of us can do, except send her good thought wishes, as she is in AZ, and said to me the other day she is very weak now. There is no card I've found that is appropriate, so I wrote her an email, which her husband printed out for her when she can't get to the computer.
I found something today that I'm going to send to them both, and will put it in my own "When I Die" file for my children after I leave...
A journey should be gauged by the loved friends met while on the trip, and not the miles traveled. |
