DRAMs are likely to regain the lead as the largest semiconductor product category in 2000, the SIA said.

The SIA forecasts a return to growth in DRAMs throughout the rest of the decade. Sales are expected to increase 20 percent in 1998 to $25 billion, 28.5 percent in 1999 to $32.2 billion and 29.7 percent in 2000 to $41.7 billion.
