But there is certainly plenty of evidence that lot's of folks are to some extent of another. Everyone has misconceptions about god to some extent of course as most likely no one knows the absolute truth... this realization helps soften opinions about God and what others think of god.

More importantly, it is certainly possible that some folks 'version' of God is "more false" than that of the atheist, who essentially is usually saying all versions he's seen are false. Ignorance fuels these folks delusion that they are correct. It's quite possible that the more the 'wackocreationsists' squawk about the atheists, the more they see it as verification that their view is correct... as their version of god is so clearly false.
