Same here... Dell/Windows at work, macs at home... there is no comparison...

Although, the worst part of my work rig is my employer only saw fit to give me one of the cheaper Dell monitors and the brightness and contrast are so lousy I swear it contributed to me blowing out a disk in my back by gradually leaning more and more into the monitor as the day wears on to try to read text on screen -- which is a bitch when you make a living as a writer/editor.

Brought a lowly macbook to work one day as I was doing some personal stuff during lunches -- even the macbook's screen was noticeably better... got my boss and IT manager to look at it and now they are considering upgrading my monitor, but still won't get me a mac to work on... they can dictate what we use here at the office, but 90% of our staff travels extensively all over the world... what do they take with them? Mac laptops and iPhones are in the majority... my former boss, one of the founders of our company, still uses a mac laptop as his main computer even at the office -- he put the Dell on the floor and brings in his macbook pro... newly hired marketing director was promised he could have any computer he wanted... he got a macbook pro after fiddling around on the Dell rig IT initially provided for him...

These guys are not computer gear heads, but they are mostly engineers (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, oceanographic and subsea, and naval architects)... they could give a crap what's inside or the specs... but give them a choice and they prefer macs...

Us worker bees in the cubicles don't get no steeenken choice and when I asked if I could do as my former boss does and simply bring my own laptop in and hook up, I was told "no."

There's a parable in this somewhere...

Jim
