But his powers of persuasion aren't working. From Kausfiles:

Rasmussen's robo-poll, which discerned a big bounce in Obama's favor on health care after his speech last week--a bounce that soon dissipated--now reports opposition to health care reform has risen to a new high of 55%, with only 42% in favor. Yikes. ... P.S.: It's possible that Sunday's numbers were just mysteriously awful for Obama, dragging down the two-day average. But there was no equivalent drop that day in Obama's overall approval rating. ...

So after Obama's "game changing" speech to the Joint Session of Congress, support for his health care reform has dropped to 42% for, 55% against. The more people hear, the less they like it. At this rate, Obama's full Ginsburg on the Sunday shows will drop support for health care reform below 40% by next week. Yet there is no Plan B beyond "more Obama".

And today, Nancy "Dumb as a Post" Pelosi has announced that the House Bill WILL have the public option. To which I say, great, that almost certainly dooms the effort. This is a slow motion train wreck. Pass the popcorn.

P.S. Intrade has "A federal government run health insurance plan to be approved before midnight ET 31 Dec 2009" at 20.4
