Could it be the stress inherent in the velocity of change? It's stress from the velocity of loss, primarily losses in wealth and economic security but also loss of political clout for one particular wing. The whole thing gets mixed and muddled, then the volume goes up because ranting is in fashion, thanks to all the cable "news" talking heads screaming and bawling every night.
