<edit>OT: Jeff, yes, I've talked to my eye doc about something like that and will probably end up doing that, but seems like I shouldn't have to resort to medical assistance for a problem that is easily solved without it. Remember, the primary issue I have is the monitor is both low contrast (compared to better monitors or any AAPL display, including laptops) and relatively dim -- I do not have this problem using my desktop at home (nor my mac laptops), only with the cheap-azzed Dell monitor on my desk at work. My brother came to visit with a brand new top-of-the-line Dell laptop and we compared various displays with it. I found that display much better than the one on my desk at work, so I know that even Dell offers displays that would solve my issue quickly. I'll pursue both solutions. Jim
