Years ago I was in a focus group run by Faith Popcorn who tries to predict trends. She is fairly accurate. This one she called a few years back: the coarsening of America. Before that she presaged Starbucks by talking about people paying a huge premium for something very small to make themselves feel ok. I am an escapee from the Real Estate Crash and Bond Bubble threads. It is to depressing to me there and I have done very well this year not waiting for disaster. I thought last year and March were disaster enough and have made a good deal of my losses back since March. I am not suited to short stocks, I do not like rooting for disaster. MP
