What the hell does this mean?:
Like Democrats, the GOP needs moderate votes for victory, and the only way to get them without sacrificing principle or core conservative voters involves deploying the same combination that has worked before: maintaining clearly conservative positions, but with those values presented in a manner that's optimistic, constructive, reasonable and, yes, moderate.

Man, Pro...what is so hard about understanding that. Conservative principles need to be discussed and (sold) to the electorate, especially the MIDDLE group, undecideds in a positive, optimistic forward-looking way. This has the best chance of winning them over. Not the bombastic, negative, style of Rush, Beck, The Birthers, and the rest of the fringe.
Without the middle (read moderates) conservatives win zero national elections. It is about winning elections so that you can govern, ya know! Reagan knew that. Bush knew that..(not that he was a conservative, but he played on on tv). |
