Peter, nice article. Teddy's escape from the Chappaquiddick incident certainly marked my earliest grand understanding that there was something frustratingly ugly about American public life. I still don't get it. I only know that as a society we don't yet understand the value of the freedom our founding fathers gave us, we don't take action against political injustices as we should, and we gladly support mediocre political dynasties as though blind to the suffering their perpetuation causes us. We've some serious evolving left to do. Dan B.
