This is the part I needed clarified, I had the same misunderstanding as you that we needed to go into bankruptcy.

But simply put, there is NO value in the company left, outside of bankruptcy, therefore shareholders have no value left, zero.

See my previous posts.

The 0.10 value of shares, most likely represented the 'speculative' worth of the company. No instrinsic value.

But I do find the long private talks, and large writedowns very suspect.
