I'm not sure GSCO should have known about FDC, the accounting treatment was supposedly unique to this transaction.

I still don't see much wrong with pega's selling approach on its core business. It charges customers over a 5 year period and it doesn't perpetually license its product. It builds in an opportunity for a repurchase after the initial five year term. PEGA does have a unique selling and licensing model, I don't know how it should be trteated from an accounting standpoint. It made the company's cash flow tight, but they were disciplined on the expense side. I don't think this event is a condemnation of the whole business. You should spend time with them at AEA.
