China Considers Buying IMF Gold, Market News International Says

By Bloomberg News

Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- China is considering purchasing some of the gold being offered by the International Monetary Fund to diversify its reserves and increase its influence within the multilateral organization, Market News International reported, citing two unidentified government sources.

China will consider buying if the price is right and the potential return relatively high, the report said, citing one of the sources. The matter will be raised by the Chinese delegation during the G20 meeting this week, the report said.
