I think there's a lot of benefit in looking at best practices and applying them where they, well, apply. But they take local knowledge to implement appropriately and there's nothing universal about them. Best practices can be collected, disseminated, and incentivized but not imposed routinely across the board.

What was new news to me in that article was that Mayo operates in a different paradigm, one that is inherently selective so it can't be replicated indefinitely.
